Summary - Week 3
KIT109 - Fur Force: Kittens on Call » Devlog
Summary - Week 3 and 4:
A quick summary of everything I added in weeks 3-4 of the project:
Week 3:
- Improved gamepad / controller support
- Added Keyboard + Mouse control set
- Created full pickup and switching weapons functionality
- Dropping weapons is now possible
- Fixed bug where player sometimes gets stuck on gameobject tiles
- Improved keyboard controls
Week 4:
- Major fix: Finally fixed problem with weapons now showing when picked up in WebGL build. (Issue was to do with re-parenting an object but using the scale of the parent at the same time). Making the scale change of the weapon independent of any parents resolved the bug.
- Created home scene with village and cabins
- Added plants and trees for atmosphere
- Made main cabin that could be entered and exited (added a concealing layer to hide objects and npcs)
- Created crawling baby kitten
- Added dialogue for NPCs
- Improved camera so it doesn’t snap on loading scene (still a little buggy)
- Zoomed scene out so there is more playing space
- Fixed collider issue for when a secondary player is introduced (this will enable collisions between players and picking up / throwing players)
- Added holster weapons function
- Made horse auto move when in the way of dialogue areas
Bugs unresolved:
- Axe flies wildly when thrown
- Web version causing glitches such as weapons disappearing, objects flying
- Would like the camera view to be bigger, but having issues when increasing the orthographic size.
- When holstering a weapon, and unholstering, it doesn’t always unholster the most recent weapon.
- Camera still a little shaky.
